Quick update and apology

I am still working on the list of volunteers, but I was unable to complete it by today's deadline (*hangs head & says her Mea Culpas*).

It is looking like I will be able to complete it & post by Friday, 6/1, at the latest (although I am hoping to have it done & sent out by tomorrow (Wednesday) night).

I am sorry for the delay.

ETA: Anyone wanting to be added to the volunteer list, who didn't post in the original threads, can post here to be added to the volunteer list.

Also, if anyone emailed me at yahoo and hasn't received a reply, could you resend it please?

My email account was hit by a bunch of spam this week (after a nice long time of virtually no spam whatsoever) and I'm afraid I might have accidentally deleted some legitimate messages.

No worries; we can wait! :)

Am I in the list too? I e-mailed last week. Ah, well, I suppose I'll see once you're finished.

Hey, thanks for the update! Do you mind if people wanting to volunteer post comments here, if they haven't already volunteered in the main thread? I'm about ready to lock that down, and would like to have someplace here to direct them. :)

Um, I was just wondering if my name is on the list... Is the main thread the one on your journal? Because I know I've commented on that one, but I haven't been on LJ much since, due to exams, so I don't know if there's been another call for volunteers...

I've been posting pretty regularly in the various threads, but it occurs to me that I've never officially volunteered.

Consider this me doing so, though I'm not sure yet how I'll be useful - I'm a programmer, but my expertise is in mainframe-based proprietary software, not web applications. (Also (U.S.) health benefit administration, which is probably not useful either.) I'd list me as general/general technical/? if you're listing potential jobs.

I'd be willing to volunteer in whatever capacity I could

hosting sites?

[identity profile] snufflesdbear.livejournal.com 2007-06-01 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I am sorry. I know this is not the right spot, but over the last 3 days I have been looking and looking. I am rather dyslexic, and all these words and letters scare me! ;-)

You guys are talking about running your own server? Have you considered talking to someone like Walter who owns Squidge.org? He has his own servers, has fought (and won) C&Ds, you can put anything there (except hacks and warez). Used to host the 852 Prospect Archive - in fact, that is why he started hosting sites. I have all my sites there now.

It would be cheaper in the long run than running your own. I bet if someone talks to him, he could set you up on your own dedicated server there.

I'm willing to volunteer in whatever way I can/you need me to.

me too, plus ratings ideas

[identity profile] terylbear.livejournal.com 2007-06-07 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
can I just say me too. I'm totally PC illiterate, but learning, but can't live without my books and I always liked fanfic, but since i canna hold a book due to arthritis, I've been living on fanfic for two yrs.

I have my own system of rating have been known to read anything, including the boring pages at the front of the phone book! when bored, which is frequently, and tho I have a lot of fan fic from a lot of genres I haven't the faintest idea where i got most of it, tho I always keep authours names and links if poss cos i tend to download enmass and read at my leisure, so i can go back and find the archive or authour if I like a writers.
My prob is my fave is f/f and its hard to find half decent, I like diff things in diff moods so always score on how well written and how in character, but also give a tag too (eg. PWP, adventure etc)for main genre
If you want more info or i can help, say hi

Not sure how many thing I'd be useful for (most of my tech skills are either internal tools/processes focused, or duplicated by about half of fandom), but I'd like to volunteer. I'm good at cat herding, grunt work, and simplifying process documentation.

I'm volunteering - can do html, minor css, proofreading, and various sorts of drudgery! Not much in the way of skilled labor, I'm afraid.

[identity profile] bluevsgrey.livejournal.com 2007-06-02 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
I can do something.

Er, I have no idea what jobs their are, and as I only know a little java and BASIC, probably not on the coding side. But I like organizing things and I definitely have an hour or so I could devote to the project.

[identity profile] jeddy83.livejournal.com 2007-06-02 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
I'm happy to help. I don't have any tech skills, but I do have good project management skills and experience at coordinating people from different interest groups. I also have skills in data analysis and questionnaire design should the need arise.

[identity profile] terribilita.livejournal.com 2007-06-02 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'd be happy to volunteer in any way I can. I'm not sure what kinds of tasks are available, so I'll leave it at that.

[identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com 2007-06-02 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
I postd in the original thread (I think) but fairly late, so please add me if you haven't already.

I'd like to volunteer. I can do html, css, copywriting and proofreading, and any other tidbits which don't have to do with databasing. ^_^

[identity profile] terylbear.livejournal.com 2007-06-07 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
forgot to add earlier, I have a LOT of time, tho little skill, and only job ive ever done was proofreading and the like on a PC. As my fanfic keeps me going, don't mind stuff like reading through long docs to make sure its all there, as there is nothing more annoying than reading one story for three hours and finding the last 3 pages are in wingdings type symbols i aint got - and trust me it has happened and mid story four times!

I did quite a lot of usability testing and generally making websites user friendlier in my job, so if I can help, let me know.

Or if there is sth else that you have in mind...

*raises hand* Volunteering :)

Good for grunt work mostly - some basic internet/IT skills that most of fandom likely knows more of...but hey - consider me a virtual pair of hands :)

[identity profile] vonknibble.livejournal.com 2007-06-02 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah ok, that was me. *sheepish*

I'm not that dumb all the time, only when i've been awake 52 hours (and counting) ;)

I want to volunteer, but I have extremely limited tech skills ... does anyone need coffee? Doughnuts?
