Is there a perfect platform?

four rows of a dozen emojis per line depicting various emotions along with items related to consuming and creating media with the words talking fandom in the center
I’ve worked with a lot of different online sharing platforms over time: From locally hosted BBS sites way-the-heck-back-when (pre-AOL) to, well, AOL and on to Yahoo!, LiveJournal, FF.net, AO3, Facebook and Tumblr. They all have their good points and their bad.

Some are great for sharing words, but not so much for images or video – or for cross-posting from other sites. Some are so innately visual, but it can be harder (I find) to create/locate true community in them.

What have you found to be the best and worst features about online platforms you’ve used for fandom? These could be places you use now, as well as ones you used in the past. If you could create your ideal sharing site, what would it look like?
