Me too!

I was feeling, and it was a feeling, as if I was being criticized (not by you, but by a number of encouters, including one very nasty one with a person now referring to me publicly as a "nutjob,") for all the sins of all academics, so I misread your comments as well.

Seems as if parts of fandom swing between grandiose delusions of power that are unrealistic (we can save this show/this actor/this everything/they must bow to our demands/let's start a petition) and extreme positions of victims (being told that my daring to write a letter to someone politely requesting to talk about her story was traumatizing, even though I have to write everybody to request permission, because apparently fans are such special snowflakes that they melt in such a situation was sort of the last straw), with no stops in between.
