i had a bad experience trying to use Drupal on a website of my own, including clunky interface issues (behind the scenes), some modules that just plain didn't work, and rampant comment and trackback spam that there seemed to be no way to control. Keeping in mind that this was at least a year ago, and it is possible that more recent versions have corrected these issues, from my own experience I could not recommend it.
