I guess if we interpreted it the "us" a la Lim :) [female storyteller; retelling (the collection) vs making it up (the character; keeping it alive (the woman and the tale); Plus, it really bugs me that screenwriters in particular are so willing to lay claim to the tradition of the storyteller and the power of telling tales round a fire, but think that their work is sufficiently significant for the story to stop with them.]
