Job Title: ADT-001 Tags Researcher
Reports To: Accessibility, Design, & Technology committee.
Job Description: We need someone fairly code-savvy to investigate various tagging and categorization systems -- livejournal, delicious, flicker, etc -- and open-source tagging solutions (ideally ones done in Ruby). Our goal is to get a big picture view of what is available out there off-the-shelf, and a summary of the pros and cons of various tagging systems.
Skills Required: Understanding of the tagging concept, familiarity and login ability on a slew of social-networking websites (ie, someone who already has the lj, delicious, flicker, myspace, facebook, ravelry, etc etc etc accounts so doesn't have to start from scratch), and comfort with browsing open-source software (rubyforge.org and sourceforge.net).
Estimated Time Commitment/Length of Commitment: Not sure! This is the kind of thing that can expand to fill the time it is allowed, but we would rather have a high-level overview of a lot of places than a deep investigation of a few. We're looking at perhaps a two week timeframe for getting the results back to the committee.
Application Process: Send an email to volunteers@transformativeworks.org or post a comment here. All comments on this post are screened in order to protect the privacy of volunteers providing personal information.
Please include the following information:
Please put "ADT-001 Tags Researcher" in the subject line of your email or LJ comment!
Deadline for Application: Closed
All applicants will receive an email confirming their application has been received within 24 hours of close of deadline for this job. If you do not receive an email, please contact us.
